Arleta
Arleta McCall is the new director of our Hip Hop Program and also teaches tap and jazz.
Born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri, Arleta has always had a love for dance. At the tender age of 3, she began her formal dance studies of ballet, tap and jazz under Pelagie Green Wren (the first African American to perform at the Saint Louis Fox theater). She continued studying with the Pelagie Green Wren Dance Academy for 13 years.
After graduating from high school in 1996, she went on to attend Alabama A&M University and become a member of the Marching Maroon and White Dancing Divas Auxiliary Unit. She held the captain’s position from 1999-2000. While earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education she became a member of the Tennessee Valley Viper Snake Charmers Dance Team (2000-2004)
In 2004 Arleta moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a career in education. She taught first grade for 2 years at Martin Luther King Elementary School. While there she started and choreographed for the Lady Husky Cheer and Dance Team.
She currently resides in Harvest, Alabama with her husband Marcus, daughter Alyse and dog Samson. She is also teaching first grade at Endeavor Elementary School in Madison County.
