Dance Attire

Female:

Rhythm & Rhyme/Intro to Dance

-Hair pulled out of face, preferably up in a bun or ponytail

-Any color leotard and tights

-Pink ballet shoes, white, black or tan tap shoes

***Please secure all tap shoes with tap ties to avoid tying and re-tying of shoelaces.

Ballet

All ballet classes have a color-coded leotard that students are required to wear. The Ballet Dress Code is as follows:

Elementary 1 – Light Pink

Elementary 2 – Light Blue

Elementary 3 – Lavender

Elementary 4 – Forest Green

Pre-pointe – Mint Green

Intermediate 1 – Royal Blue

Intermediate 2/3 – Burgundy

Intermediate 4 – Navy Blue

Advanced – Black
-Leotards are available in several styles from our in-house dancewear store Showstoppers

-All levels must wear pink tights, pink ballet/pointe shoes with hair in a bun.

-Elementary  levels may wear leather or canvas ballet shoes. Intermediate and Advanced levels please wear canvas.

-Pre-pointe – Students will be instructed to purchase their special pre-pointe shoes from Bloom or Spells Dancewear in Huntsville. Please wait until the dance year begins before purchasing shoes to ensure a proper fit.

-All leotards, tights, shoes and Bun Kits are available for purchase from Showstoppers.

-No Ballet skirts are allowed.

-No pants, shorts or t-shirts are allowed in class. It is important for the instructor to be able to see the student’s body to assure proper alignment.

Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Lyrical/Modern

-Hair should be worn completely out of the face

-Leotards and tights may be any color. Jazz pants, shorts and fitted shirts are allowed but the student may be asked to remove them in too baggy or inappropriate.

-Please be modest in your choice of attire for the class you are attending. If we feel any outfit is inappropriate or puts the child at risk for exposing themselves, they will be asked to change.

Shoes:

Jazz – black or tan slip on, preferably split sole

Tap Petite & Junior – Tan “Mary Jane” style or lace-up jazz style

Tap Intermediate/Advanced – black oxford style with split sole preferred

Acrobatics – jazz shoes or barefoot

Lyrical/Modern – lyrical shoes such as foot thongs or foot undeez

Hip Hop

-Hair and attire is at the discretion of the dancer and their parents

-Please remember modesty in your attire. You may be asked to change if the teacher feels your dress is inappropriate

-Shoes should be some type of tennis shoe or hip hop jazz shoe

Male:

-Any solid color t-shirt and stretch pants for all classes

Shoes:

Ballet – black ballet shoes

Jazz – black or tan split sole or jazz tennis shoes

Tap – black oxford style

Acrobatics – jazz shoes or barefoot

*All dance attire will be strictly enforced for the safety of the student, freedom of movement and uniformity in class. Instructors have the right to ask a student to sit out or leave the class if they repeatedly break the dress code.

*We recommend each student have a dance bag for their accessories and that all items be labeled with their name.

*We are sorry but we cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items of any kind.

*There is a studio Lost & Found but it will be periodically cleaned out and all items donated to charity if not claimed within a reasonable amount of time
