Dancers Incorporated Syllabi

-Dancers Inc. has formulated a syllabus for the disciplines of ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, hip hop and lyrical/modern to help guide the student through their years of dance.

-Each level builds on the levels before it; therefore it is important that a student become proficient at all the skills before moving on to a higher-level class. However, the skills listed at each level are by no means the only skills a student will be introduced to during that time. Instructors also consider the quality of the skills learned as well as the number of skills.

-If a student is new to Dancers Inc., the student will first be placed in a class according to their age, grade and number of years in dance. Then the skills tests will be applied and a student may be moved so as to best challenge them without discouraging them.

-All placement is at the discretion of the faculty.

-It is possible that a student may spend 1-3 years in a level, particularly acrobatics and pointe, due to lack of ability to master certain skills properly or immaturity to go on to a higher level.

-A mid-year evaluation is given to each student to let the parent and student know where the child excels and where he or she needs improvement. Classroom conduct is included in this review.

-Placement and recommendations for the following year are mailed out after the recital.

-A syllabus is kept in each classroom and is available upon request from the office for a $5.00 charge.
